The Sound of Silence
We can't fix what is wrong if we do not talk to each other.
So please, do not stay silent.

Secret Knitting
It has been really quiet on this blog, although behind the scenes, there is mad gift knitting going on. There shall be a proper accounting for all the projects in January.
Meanwhile, I shall leave you with this amazing person who shares his love and joy of music with everyone.

AC/DC
My SiL is a great fan of AC/DC and thanks to her I visited Finland this summer. It was awesome, both the concert and the trip with my family. Although I've moved on to some heavier music over the years AC/DC remains one of my favourite bands.
The band is as awesome as ever, the music fantastic, the show fun, and I got to share this experience with 55000 people from all over the world.
I'd had a bit of trouble deciding what to take with me — knitting or spinning. Spinning won. In the end I was not sure if the Finnish security at the airport would let metal knitting needles pass or not. I decided not to risk it. If they'd objected to the wood shaft, I could simply remove the whorl and made a new stick once back at home.
The concert was over at about midnight. This was the view on the way back to the town we parked our car in. The closest one could get to the concert was about 3 km away. My feet were absolutely killing me by the time we got back to the car. Wrong kind of shoes, I have learned through much pain, will make one's life miserable. I'll be much better prepared for next concert.

Postmodern Jukebox
There are covers and then there are covers. Usually someone takes an older song and remakes it in a more modern style, or in a different genre. Even more usually the cover isn't quite as good as the original. In a rare instance, the cover improves on the original.
Then there is Postmodern Jukebox that turned the whole concept on it's head. They take modern songs and make vintage covers. Some I like better than others, but these four are my favourites.
Wow! I mean, WOW. Her voice suits that genre perfectly.
I adore how the singers' costumes match the fire extinguisher.
This is brilliant. Absolutely brilliant! They took a silly song and made it fun. I'm in awe of how they kept a straight face while recording this.
I. Love. Her. Voice.

Current Earworm
I can't stop listening to this song — Come With Me Now by Kongos. I didn't like the official video much, so I embedded a "video" from their official YouTube channel with just the song and the lyrics to share the earworm.
The accordion and the rhythm remind me of some Estonian folk dances, polka, specifically. Melody, on the other hand not at all. This makes it a fabulous combination of childhood memories and current music tastes.

Eurovision Song Contest
Sometimes not watching the Eurovision Song Contest means that I miss out on good music. Then I have colleagues that watch, and are kind enough to tell me the highlights. So I don't really feel that I miss too much, even if I learn about an amazing song years later.
This is Estonian entry to 2009 Eurovision. Beautiful lyrics, beautiful music, performed to perfection.
