Socks in Progress

January 17, 2014 Posted by Vaire , ,

TheWOL inspired me to write a little about how I knit socks. 1 at a time, 2 at a time, 2 on 2 circs, etc. I've tried them all and this is my current favourite way: two at a time on two sets of dpns.

Tiger Socks

It is kind of parallel knitting where I cast one one sock, knit the ribbing, CO the second, knit the ribbing, and so on. I like the method of knitting 2 socks at the same time on 2 circulars too, but I like the rhythm of dpns more.

Alhambra Socks

This is a pair of socks I begun nearly 10 years ago. I love the pattern and I love the yarn, but I made the foot too long and never fixed it, or knit the second sock. I am determined to finish the pair before it hits 10 years from casting on. I have already ripped it back to the beginning of the heel, all I have to do is to pick it up and get knitting.

In another news, someone flipped a switch from Autumn to Winter, and we've got snow. One week the temperatures are hovering at +7C, the next they are about -7C. I would have preferred snow already in December, but it is here now, and it is fabulous.
