A Dilemma

March 05, 2008 Posted by Vaire

I can't make up my mind and I need your advice. Should I make new clothes for Double Wars or not?

I've lost quite a bit of weight, so my newest SCA clothes (Landsknecht) don't fit me like they should. The 13th century tunic and Estonian peasant clothes probably will, but they are so baggy. I've come to realization that I like figure-hugging styles, not the baggy tunic styles.

The problem is that I'm still loosing weight and if I make something that fits me now, it'll be too big in two months. Probably. Maybe. I definitely won't fit in my tight 15th century kirtles by Double Wars (I don't know if I ever will again, I was 60 kg then).

I only hand sew, so it takes a fair bit of commitment and time to finish a dress, I'm loath to spend so much time and effort on something I'll only wear once. If I want to have something new for Double Wars I must begin now to get everything done in time.

So:

  1. do I stop loosing weight and make a new 15th century wardrobe?
  2. do I continue loosing weight and look frumpy in the baggy peasant clothes?
  3. do I continue loosing weight and make a new wardrobe anyway?

A, b or c? Please help me decide!
