Baby Blanket for a Colleague

February 28, 2011 Posted by Vaire

One of my colleagues is pregnant and I offered to knit her baby something.

Moss Stitch Throw

She chose the Moss Stitch Throw from a book I'd bought in Dublin. We substituted yarn and even though we chose an equivalent weight, the blanket came out twice the size the pattern said. That was actually a good thing, because the winter is cold this year and the blanket can now be doubled for extra warmth.

I chose to knit the border log cabin style instead of intarsia as specified in the pattern to make it more visually even.

I finished the blanket just in time before the colleague left for maternity leave.

Crazy Colour, Crazy Stripes

February 14, 2011 Posted by Vaire

There has been quite some sock knitting this winter and I've even managed to take some pictures. But first, I'm going to show you the socks I knit last winter during the Ravelympics.

Left Side

The pattern is called Crazy Stripes (link is to Ravelry) and the yarn by Regia is called Crazy Colour.

Right Side

I thought that the pattern and the yarn worked remarcably well together.

From the top

The construction is refreshingly different and simple at the same time. They were enjoyable and fun to knit.

A Calm Saturday

Saturday morning

A cup of coffee, sunlight, and knitting makes a cosy Saturday morning.
