Back from Raglan Faire

August 28, 2009 Posted by Vaire

It was one of the best events I've ever been to. Relaxed, beautiful and filled with good folks. As usual, I got to meet old friends and make new ones.

My Laurel has taken on a student and we hit it off from the start. We had many interesting discussions and came to the conclusion that we have lots to learn from each other.

Raglan Castle side entrance

This is what I saw every morning when I got up and looked left.

Main camp at Raglan

I only needed to turn right and had the view of the main camp.

Bridge battle

The bridge battle was scenic.

Our camp at night

We had some friends over for supper on Sunday and I thought that the lit pavillion was beautiful.

On Sunday morning I gave a class on how to make a Vade Mecum (a folded belt book). The A&S activities were not very organised, so I'd been afraid that there would be no students at all. In the end there were seven. Yay! Everyone finished their books and were happy with them. Double yay! It was so nice to see people walking around with books hanging from their belts for the rest of the day.

I had such a good time I'll be back again, soon. I won't wait another three years this time. Maybe not camping (putting up a large pavillion in a gale was not fun), but back nevertheless.

The last week was spent in preparation to go to Raglan Faire. The taxi will be here soon to take me to the airport. See you in a week!

Vacation, Spinning and Rearranging Furniture

August 10, 2009 Posted by Vaire

Last week was my last week of vacation. I flew to Estonia to celebrate my borther's and Mum's birthdays the weekend before and took the ferry back on Monday with Mum. We shopped, visited Fjärilshuset, shopped, had lunches in various cafés and, in general, had a good time.

When we were not out and about, I was spinning or knitting in my crafting corner. Since I don't live in my flat any longer, and the iMac is not there anymore, I could rearrange that corner a bit.

Crafting corner

Marvelous! It is so nice to sit, rock and spin there while listening audio-books. I'd bought some red pre-yarn in Estonia and spun that up in no time. Wheel spinning is so much faster than spindling.

Red yarn

The yarn is space dyed in different reds. I am planning to ply it with black. Again. I just need to buy some black pre-yarn and protect it from cats better this time.
