Tomorrow I will attend my first event her in Ireland. Yuletide University in Norther Ireland. I'm exited and a little nervous. I't been so long since I've been to an event.

Palm trees in Blanchardstown. Palm trees! I've been thinking that palm trees belonged to tropics or warm climates. Guess I was wrong.

Finland in October is supposed to be rainy, muddy and generally not cheerful. This year was different. This autumn was exceptionally warm, when we got there they had temperatures as high as 19° Celcius during daytime. That's hot for September, very hot. The teperature went down gradually, but stayed warmer than usual. Roses in October? Insane! Here's the proof:

The poto above was taken two weeks later than this one of a maple tree in full autumn glory.

I walked past that sight every day coming from work. I thought it was beautiful how the birches in the foreground framed the maple.

Thich fog in October 2005 in Helsinki.

One morning in our last week Mother Nature showed us another spectacular sight. A thick fog which covered up much of the modern industrial uglyness. It was breathtaking in nature, I hope this pic conveys at least a fraction of that feeling to you.

I bought a computer on Wednesday. I can't even begin to tell how happy and satisfied this little act has made me. I have my own computer again! Woot! Ahem. Now the stats for those who are interested. Packard Bell laptop with 1.86GHz Intel Pentium processor, 1GB RAM, 256MB VRAM, wireless and LAN, audio in and out, 3 USB ports, 60GB HDD, wide screen, DVD player, CD recorder, some more stuff that's not important at this point.

It's a laptop because there will be no Internet at my house this year. Therefore I need to carry the whole shebang to a friends' house who have Internet. I decided early on I didn't want to schlep a huge box and monitor around. So laptop it is.

The reason I needed Internet so badly is World of Warcraft. I could blog and read my e-mail at the Internet Cafe, however expensive that is, but you can't play WoW there. I'm back in the game and happy as a puppy. I still need to buy an external mouse to be able to play efficiently, but I can play again!

I have taken lots of pictures and want to share best of them with you. There are so many that I will spread the posts over the next week beginning on Monday. Right now I will leave you with my brother's sweet puppy Emma.

My birthday week has been good to me. I have found out that I have really cool workmates (not that I didn't suspect it before), good friends to have fun with (I didn't know just how good) and a sweet boyfriend who wanted to get engaged.

I've spent this weekend in Stockholm and I'll be back in Dublin tonight.

The (ir)regular blogging will continue until I get a laptop I can take to a friends' house who have Internet. Hopefully that will happen next week, I have saved up enough now. Yay! Finally to be able to get connected again. I can't wait.
