Two good news today: I have received my Nordic secret friend package and Virtuella of Ull og tull has received mine.

My secret friend, Solveig from Denmark, sent me a beautiful fuchsia pink shawl. Gorgeous! Unfortunately there has not been enough light to capture this gorgeousness on camera. Hopefully there will be enough sun this weekend so I can show this beauty to you all.

I will leave you with this picture of fall in Stockholm.

Everything seems to be working. Good.

There has been lots of secret knitting in the past week, hence no blogging. The secret knitting is finished and the package sent so I've returned to regular projects. I cast on the second Fluted Banister and picked out 3/4ths of the camicia neck casing. Tomorrow I will sew it again and on Wednesday a friend is coming to help me fit the toile again. 17 days (counting from tomorrow) to St. Homobonus Feast (a SCA event).

I've decided to keep track of my ongoing projects so next time I want to begin something, I'd come to my senses and say NO! The list is on the sidebar instead of the status. Nothing significant had not happened since March, so I took it down.

Welcome again! I thank all the readers who have been with me through the moves. I hope this is the last time you have to move with me before I get my own domain.

The blog will reside on blogspot and the image files on bredband. All the image and other archive links are updated. If something is broken, please let me know.

Well. Bredband does not allow anybody but their own IP addresses to connect their FTP server. That means I can't publish at Bredband.net with Blogger. Ever.

I could solve the situation by buying my own domain (can't afford) or finding a free server space somewhere before the Chello account expires. I'll keep you posted.

Welcome! Although Blogger seems not to communicate with Bredband at the moment and a few things on the sidebar do not work until then, I'm sure I can sort things out soon.

I enjoy taking those silly quizzes. Most of the time they are not that accurate, but once in a while they hit home. Like the one I came across at Emma's blog.

Knitting Guru
You appear to be a Knitting Guru. You love knitting
and do it all the time. While finishing a piece
is the plan, you still love the process, and
can't imagine a day going by without giving
some time to your yarn. Packing for vacation
involves leaving ample space for the stash and
supplies. It can be hard to tell where the yarn
ends and you begin.

The camicia is finished! Whee! There are no pictures yet because it's almost midnight and I finished the neckline mere moments ago.

However. There is a picture of the first Fluted Banisters sock.

This time I changed the round toe drcreases a little bit. Instead of k2tog, I did p2tog.

Makes for an interesting texture, don't you think?

Today is the day when it finally hit me: I'm going to Feast of St. Homobonus and I have nothing to wear! So I ironed 10 metres of linen and cut out my chemise. The chemise only took 2.6 m, but while I was ironing the fabric (drying linen in a dryer wrinkles it) I figured I might as well iron all of it.

I'm probably going to be a little more quiet about knitting because I'll be concentrating on sewing. If anybody is interested in checking out the progress I'm keeping a clothing diary too: The Diaries of a Venetian Courtesan.

I'm turning the heel on Fluted Banisters, nothing exiting or blogworthy going on there.

I was a naughty girl in the weekend. I addition to everything I have going on in my fiber life (

  • Landsknecht stockings/hose, pair #1 (leg done on 1st stocking),
  • Landsknecht stockings/hose, pair #2 (gussets done on 1st stocking),
  • Alhambra Socks (1 done 1 to go),
  • Secret project for Nordic Secret Friend,
  • putting extra twist in some pink Novita yarn in order to be able to Navajo ply it,
  • and spinning the red merino

), I cast on the Fluted Banisters.

Bad, bad Vaire!

P.S. The Fluted Banisters are fun!

Six Sox Knitalong has posted October/November adult size patterns: Fluted Banister Socks. I will be using the pattern women's medium, sport weight yarn. I have picked another Novita Nalle yarn for these socks. Pics will follow once I have something to show.

Meanwhile. I have a dice bag now.

I have myriad of single skeins of Novita Merino in various colors. A couple of years ago I bought Simply Socks by Anna Zilboorg. As soon as I got the book I was inspired to use all my odd skeins knitting socks from her Heart Crook pattern (pg. 58). My attention span being what it is, when I got to the heel of the first sock I was utterly bored with the project and put it aside.

Fast forward to today. I'd become involved with role playing and needed a bag for the dice. When I was sorting through the yarn today I noticed this sad half-sock and bingo! a dice bag was born. All I needed to do was to graft the opening shut, make a string and weave in all the bazillion ends.
